Vehicle check – False plates

Dispatcher Files

We recently received an AAA Response activation from a Polokwanebased Community Policing Forum (CPF) member requesting a vehicle check. He reported that he had witnessed a vehicle being driven in a dangerous manner. The two occupants were intoxicated and could not provide ownership details of the vehicle.

We immediately completed the vehicle registration check on the SNIPR system and found there were no details on the system, meaning that the vehicle could possibly have false plates.

After providing feedback to the CPF member he advised that the occupants had been detained and that SAPS were on route to assist further with the matter. The vehicle could have been impounded and the driver arrested for driving while intoxicated.
