Trevor Murphy Murder

On Friday, 23 April 2021 a residential farm home invasion took place on Wendover Farm, Karkloof in KwaZulu Natal which resulted in the murder of Mr Trevor Murphy (Aged 55) who was stabbed multiple times. A Ford Ranger (Registration Number NR32220), cellphones, a tablet, three laptops, a flat screen TV, hi-fi and a firearm were taken.

Knight Security Solutions was contacted by a family member saying they needed urgent assistance. Tragically Trevor passed away en route to the hospital.

Localised security companies Knight Security Solutions and Magma Armed Response & National Investigations Specialised Operations Team, together with UCSI (Umngeni Community Safety Initiative), SNIPR™ ANPR Validation Centre, SAPS Detective Branch and Specialised Divisions, VCAT (Violent Crimes & Technology Unit), Specialised Victim Support (via Together SA CAN NPO) as well as the Midlands Security Task Team which comprises six farming associations, private security agencies and all provincial role-players was activated.

The highly skilled investigations specialised team within a few minutes of teaming up, processed all elements of information provided by role-players aiding in providing a clear direction for the case. Various resources were activated and it was not long before further information was received enabling the team to get into position and a swift arrest was made without incident.

This very strategic plan led to the arrest and subsequent follow up resulting in the property being recovered including Trevor’s firearm and blood stained clothes.

All evidence was gathered and processed in top-notch form by SAPS. We are very pleased to know that justice will be served in the coming months and that the collaboration between law enforcement and security agencies which is commendable saw teamwork success.

Three people are arrested

The Collaboration Operations Team carries out the takedown in central Pietermaritzburg which results in three people, one male and two female, being arrested inside the car without incident.

 

The team proceeded to the Swapo Informal Settlement where a further two suspects were arrested.

The operation resulted in the property being recovered including Trevor’s firearm and blood stained clothes.
