Noise Disturbance

Dispatcher Files

While on my day shift, one of our AAA Response members called in about a noise complaint in her area. She said that there were a few neighbours who often played loud, booming music that disturbed the peace of the elderly citizens.

I made a call to the local SAPS to attend to the matter and they arrived shortly thereafter, locating the offenders and issuing them with a warning.

We encourage all members to report any form of noise complaint or disturbance in their community.
We also urge all members to be considerate toward their neighbours, particularly the elderly.

The nuisance by-laws make specific provision regarding noise levels, stating that: “no person may permit noise or sound from a private residence or business premises in his or her control to be audible to users outside of such premises to such an extent that it reasonably interferes with the use and enjoyment by an owner or occupier of his or her property…”*

Please call the AAA Response number should you wish to report an incident.
