Accidental Fires

Dispatcher Files

During the winter months, fires are common and it is very important to take every precaution either at your home or business. Children’s safety is also very important and they should be made aware of fire hazards and fire safety to prevent any mishaps from occurring around the home. Young children are particularly vulnerable, with death as a result of burn injuries claiming approximately 1 300 young lives each year.

The most probable sources of a potential fire inside the home could come from but not limited to any of the following:

  • Frayed electrical wires on appliances
  • Burning candles
  • Heaters/electric blankets
  • Cigarette/cigar/tobacco pipe embers
  • Fireplaces
  • Gas leaks followed by a spark igniting
  • Children playing with matches
  • Burning oil on a stovetop

Should you come across a fire, either in your home, in a built-up area, on the roadside or in the veld, use your AAA Response app immediately and we will facilitate a coordinated response with relevant roleplayers.
