Illegal Trading in Wildlife

Dispatcher Files

Pangolins are actually mammals. They are the only mammals wholly covered in scales and they use those scales to protect themselves from predators in the wild. If under threat, a pangolin will immediately curl into a tight ball and will use their sharp-scaled tails to defend themselves.

A poaching incident was recently reported by a AAA response member, who advised about an incident of possible wildlife trafficking. They had received a video of three males with a live pangolin. A case was opened and after investigations the suspects in the video were arrested with the pangolin being safely recovered.

If you see any suspicious wildlife activity, don’t hesitate to activate your AAA Response button and report to one of our Dispatchers.
