Bumped off the road by a truck

In the Emergency response center there are certain calls that are regular calls from day to day, they may be the same category but every case is different in its own way with a story of what happened to separate it from the others.

Our roads are not the safest to travel on, we as drivers need to be vigilant & careful of other motorists driving around us, especially when weather conditions are bad, roads are wet and visibility is poor.

I received a call from a very concerned mother who called in for help as her daughter had been bumped off the road by a truck and hit another car. Weather  conditions were extreme as it was raining down in buckets making the roads very wet and visibility was poor.

When getting all the details, it was reassuring to hear that this accident was not too bad considering her car was knocked by the truck. The lady’s daughter was not hurt but shaken up and had to pull over onto the side of the road.

I called Metro police for assistance while they awaited a tow truck for the car.. I kept calling her mom to check up on her andetro police had arrived to assist and prevent any further accidents. eventually after two or three calls her mom advised me that she was home safely.

Working in the ERPC always has its days where we have good results and bad results from incidents, lucky for us and the member who called in this was a successful ending, as she walked away unharmed with only a little bit of damage to her car.

I think it cannot be stressed enough to drive safely and be considerate on the roads especially when weather conditions take a turn for the worst.

Remember to use your knowledge, instinct and be thoughtful whilst driving on the roads.
