Emergency Medical Assist – Stroke

We received a call from one of our members who takes care of the elderly who have health issues. She reported that a 68-year-old male patient was having a stroke and required urgent attention.

We immediately dispatched Netcare 911 to provide medical attention and an ambulance. Our member advised that the patient was diabetic and on other medication as well.
We remained in contact with the member, encouraging her to concentrate on keeping the patient as comfortable and safe as possible while we took further action. The Ambulance was on scene within a short period and the patient was treated on scene and stabilised.

Shortly thereafter he was transported to a nearby hospital where he was admitted for further treatment and observation.
