Fake Home Affairs “representatives”

Yesterday, a family from Gauteng asked me for assistance as they were contacted by “representatives” from Home Affairs who wanted to come and do a home visit. The couple had been to Home Affairs that day but were told that they would have to come back.

Later that same day, persons pretending to be from Home Affairs called to say that they would come to the couple’s home and sort out out the outstanding paperwork.

The couple was suspicious of this as they had never heard of house visits before.
I made contact with SAPS officers from POCC Gauteng who went to the couple’s home to wait for the alleged Home Affairs officials who would be verified on their arrival.

For reasons unknown, the Home Affairs “representatives” never arrived and since then have not made contact with the family again.

I firmly believe that a house robbery was thwarted. I suggest that any of our members who are presented with a situation like this, contact us immediately so that we can try and apprehend these criminals.
