January to April 2019 feedback to the country

Hey South Africa, I trust you are all well and loving each moment in developing our country as much as I am. While extremely tough for both citizens and leaders, I listened to a bunch of people talking about how bad things are, but what was different about this conversation was the reference to leaders across the spectrum as having dreams and ambitions that are not attainable. Well, a million thoughts raced through my mind when thinking about this.

Firstly, most people become impatient with the pace of change. Forgetting of course that the speed and goals that are achieved are directly related to the number of people that participate. It means investing in time by staying informed, acting on the information provided, giving feedback even if it’s only a one-liner, or yay! nay! good job! bad job! and of course, giving money from those that can afford to do so.

Secondly, almost all leaders and supporters that have shifted an entire country or the world’s opinion have generally been considered to be crazy and said that it can’t be done or it will never happen… so this reminded me about all of you reading this.

I admit that the highest priority of everything in our focus of safety during 2018, with 21,000 murders, 1028 rhino poached, 14,050 road deaths and a rape every 28 seconds being the highest ever recorded, it does make our daily task seem unattainable and crazy.

So what are we trying to do with Project Mustard Seed?

Quite simply, we are ignoring the in-house politics, personal agendas, the overall war or skirmishes in the political arena. And while we are on the same battlefield, we make a wide berth away from all of this and are tunnel-visioned toward the operations, victim support and safety for all.

Our goal is to have a united safety, security and SAPS industry through technology and citizens’ participation with independent but also co-dependent organisations that we choose to trust, that are vibrant, healthy and always rising to meet the challenges for their members, clients or people across South Africa, each with a localised structure and some with an overarching national structure doing their bit to power change.

At the end of each month, as we measure the pace of change and investment, the results must speak for themselves. These results can only be achieved through all elements of collaboration, and the independent, neutral technology platform that is allowing for personal choice, trust and investment.

Let’s take look at the results, and while doing this, think about how much you have contributed to the speed and investment to change in South Africa?

Investment = these successes
