Maintain a Safe Following Distance

It cannot be stressed enough to be vigilant on the road and to maintain a safe following distance. Many will say that it will never happen to them but always remember that you cannot predict your fate and what will happen whilst on the road, everything is unpredictable.

It hits hard when it’s one of your own that are involved in an accident. The fear of what has happened and all the possibilities rush through your mind.. Don’t let your children, spouse, parents and other loved ones go through having to face a phone call saying that you have been involved in an accident.

A good tip is to keep a safe following distance of at least 2 car lengths from the car in front of you and when turning at a robot to have at least the length of 2 busses  you that is turning and the oncoming vehicle before you go through.

Now the reason behind this post is because not long ago one of our own ERPC Dispatchers had been involved in a motor vehicle accident, and although a slight fender bender, it was enough to send chills down our spines in the ERPC when receiving a call from one of our own with a shaky voice and filled with tears from fear.

Always remember that it can happen to anyone, anywhere, at any time . Be safe out there member and arrive alive.
