Theft of electronic devices

One of the most common crimes in our country is cellphones theft and other electronic devices. Whether the suspects catch you at an intersection forcing you to hand over your cellphone or whether you are in a busy shopping centre and they ‘accidentally’ bump into you in order to pickpocket you. We recently received a call from a member who had his cellphone stolen from him.

He was waiting in his car at the pick up point at a local store in the area, with open windows to allow fresh air in and a young male had approached him from the passenger side to distract him whilst another young male had come to his window with a knife demanding the cellphone.

A case was opened at the nearest police station and the cellphone was blocked by the service provider.

We urge our members and the public to make sure they download the MDDR app onto their phones along with TrackBox, this app will help if your cell phone is stolen and if it is used in a crime.
